Ghana's Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II arrives in Canada to attend World Cup Business Summit and cheer Black Stars against Panama
His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and King of the Ashanti Kingdom, has arrived in Toronto, Canada, to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup Business Summit organised by the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce. The summit runs from June 15 to 21 in Toronto. Otumfuo was warmly received upon arrival by Canada's Ambassador to Ghana H.E. Myriam Montrat, Ghana's High Commissioner to Canada H.E. Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, former Chief of the Defence Staff of Ghana Mr. Thomas Oppong-Peprah and other distinguished guests. The Asantehene is the Special Guest of Honour at the summit — where he is expected to address an estimated 40,000 members of the Ghanaian diaspora. He will also visit the Black Stars camp ahead of their World Cup opener against Panama at BMO Field in Toronto on June 17 to boost the morale of the players. Otumfuo travelled to Canada directly from Poland where he had been attending separate engagements. His visit underscores the growing ties between Ghana and Canada and the importance of economic, cultural and international partnerships.
