About NSEM

NSEM is independent broadcast news, grounded in the same airtime detection rail that powers our reporting.

Our mission

NSEM exists to tell the whole story — not the convenient half. We follow what actually went out over the air, what was said, who said it, and what the public record shows in the hours and days that follow.

Every report we publish is built on verifiable broadcast evidence: the exact station, the exact minute, the audio that ran. When we can prove it, we say so. When we can’t, we say that too.

We are an independent newsroom. No political party, no advertiser, and no station owner sets our agenda — our readers do.

What makes us different

Most newsrooms ask you to trust them. We’d rather show you. Every story we publish sits next to its detection footprint on the GlueArrow rail — the same airtime monitoring system used by rights bodies and station partners to confirm what played, where, and when.

That means the broadcast claim behind a headline is something you can trace, not something you have to take on faith. If a minister said it on a Tuesday morning show, we link to the minute it aired.

We do not anonymously aggregate other outlets’ reporting and republish it as our own. Every byline is a person, every source is attributed, and every story carries its own evidence trail.

How we work

The editorial workflow behind NSEM pairs the newsroom with a research desk that handles the verifiable pieces — transcript matching, timeline assembly, cross-reference against the broadcast record — while our editors handle the judgement, the context, and the call on what is worth publishing.

Every published post is signed by the editor responsible for it and tied to a Glue card — a permanent, shareable record that includes the underlying sources, the broadcast footprint, and the moment of publication. The Glue card is the receipt.

Corrections, updates, and clarifications are appended to the same card so the trail is honest end to end.

Funding & independence

NSEM is reader-funded and supported by station partnerships on the GlueArrow rail. That mix is deliberate: readers keep us accountable to the public, and station partnerships keep us close to the broadcast record we report on.

We do not sell political placement. We do not sell product placement disguised as coverage. We do not let advertisers pre-read stories, and we do not pull stories at an advertiser’s request.

If a partnership ever conflicts with a story, the story runs and the partnership ends. That order is not negotiable.
