On Monday, 27 July 2026, a delegation from the Kingdom of Dagbon paid a courtesy call on the Governor of the Bank of Ghana to formally announce the passing of His Royal Majesty, Ndan Yaa Naa Abukari II, King of Dagbon.
The Governor, Johnson Pandit Asiama, together with the First Deputy Governor, Dr. Zakari Mumuni, and other senior officials of the Bank, received the delegation at Bank Square. In his remarks, Dr. Asiama described the late Yaa Naa as a remarkable statesman and a valued friend of the Bank who had left an enduring legacy.
He recalled His Royal Majesty’s presence at the Bank’s Cedi@60 celebrations last year. Dr. Asiama assured the delegation of the Bank’s commitment to honour the memory of the late King and indicated that the Bank would remain in close contact with the Kingdom regarding plans and arrangements for activities in his honour.
