Parliamentary Select Committee on Economy and Development Visits GoldBod The Parliamentary Select Committee on Economy and Development has paid a working visit to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) as part of its parliamentary oversight mandate to assess the institution's operations, achievements and strategic direction.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Eric Afful outlined that their visit was to assess the impact of GoldBod’s operations on the economy especially in the aspects of gold trading, foreign exchange inflows, reserve accumulation as well as value addition. Welcoming the delegation, Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., provided a comprehensive overview of the institution's transformation from the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) into the Ghana Gold Board.
He highlighted GoldBod's licensing framework, funding model, ongoing review of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), and initiatives to promote responsible mining, gold traceability and value addition. The CEO also briefed the Committee on GoldBod's partnerships with large-scale mining companies, the Board's gold aggregation performance for 2025 and 2026, and its new trading model.
In a major announcement, the GoldBod CEO revealed that by end of August, the GoldBod will procure a traceability system that will make it possible for the outfit to trace all gold purchased from mine to export. #GoldBod #ResponsibleGold #EconomicTransformation #ResponsibleMining #GoldTrade #Parliament #Ghana
