COCOBOD holds cocoa producer price at GH₵2,587 per bag for light crop season as global prices fall The Government of Ghana through COCOBOD has announced it will maintain the cocoa producer price at GH₵2,587 per 64-kilogram bag for the 2025/2026 Light Crop Season — despite a continuing decline in global cocoa prices. The decision was announced in an official circular signed by Dr. Francis Baah, Deputy Chief Executive of COCOBOD in charge of Agronomy and Quality Control. Purchases for the Light Crop Season begin on Thursday, June 18, 2026. A full tonne of cocoa — equivalent to 16 bags — will continue to attract GH₵41,392. For context, the cocoa producer price has gone through sharp changes this season. It opened in August 2025 at GH₵3,228.75 per bag, was revised upward to GH₵3,625 per bag in October 2025 to prevent smuggling to Ivory Coast, then cut back sharply to GH₵2,587 per bag in February 2026 as global prices dropped significantly. The government says maintaining the current price is aimed at providing stability and protecting the incomes of cocoa farmers ahead of the new season.
